Generally, 12 ounces of water is enough for the whole family. The water that is used for boiling must be clean and filtered. You can cook the water through microwave oven, kettle, and open sauce pan. If you are boiling the water in an open saucepan, you must watch it constantly to make sure not too much of the water is dried by the heat. If you want to use a microwave oven, you should set the microwave power to the appropriate beverage setting.

When the water is boiled, you must pour it into the French press coffee maker. After the water is poured over the ground beans, the screened plunger should be place through the hole in the middle of the coffee maker life until it rest on top of the coffee grounds. To submerge the coffee grounds, you will have to push it down eight inch in the hot water. If the water has not yet turned into the color of the coffee, you can wait for a few minutes since it takes some times to brew.

While pressing down on the plunger and the lid, you can pour the fresh coffee into the mug and enjoy. If there are some fine grounds that remain on the bottom of the coffee, you can avoid them by not drinking the last sip from the cup.
